Tommy Lee Jones will play Colonel Phillips in 'Captain America'
Once again Marvel has chosen to confirm casting months after strong speculation. But yes, it’s true Tommy Lee Jones will play Colonel Phillips in Captain America: First Avenger. Who knows? The studio is so late on the news, the guy may have already filmed his scenes. Regardless, when you see the movie next summer, count on Jones playing the important role of the man who recruits Steve Rogers to join Project Rebirth, the experimental project that leads to the creation of the Super Soldier.
Alice Eve Set to Play Emma Frost in X-men: First Class
Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League) is currently in negotiations to play telepathic mutant Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. Deadline doesn’t have any details beyond that, but I can see Eve in the part. The roles of Professor Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Beast have been filled by James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Benjamin Walker, respectively.
For those unfamiliar with the character of Emma Frost, she was formerly known as “The White Queen” and was a member of the villainous mutant super group, The Hellfire Club. In addition to strong telepathic powers, she also has the ability to shapeshift her skin into a diamond form that grants her increased strength and durability. Frost also possesses a dry wit and is known for her rocking body and highly revealing clothing, although I don’t think any of those really counts as a superpower.
