The newest toast of the tennis world Melanie Oudin is not at all ashamed to admit that her success in entering the US Open quarterfinals is courtesy of being inspired by her 15 year old boyfriend named Austin Smith. The 17 year old Oudin showed a lot of promise when she beat No. 1 Maria Sharapova last weekend and 13th seed Nadia Petrova. Up next, she will face seasoned tennis players Caroline Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
A native of Georgia, People Magazine tagged Oudin's surprising victory as a "Cinderella story" as she rose above the flock starting out as rank 70. Sportscasters even revealed that "a star is born" within her as she successfully emerged victorious against all her seasoned opponents. Melanie Oudin credited her boyfriend Austin as the one who gave her the lucky sneakers she used in the US Open. Instead of bearing her nickname, Oudin's sneakers bears a mantra that read: "Believe".
