Manny Pacquiao is set to release his international single on April 28

Manny Pacquiao is set to release his international single on April 28, more than a week before his anticipated bout against American Shane Mosley.

His single is the hit ballad by Dan Hill, “Sometimes When We Touch.” He even recorded the song with Hill, the latter being “drawn by the honesty and the gentleness of his performance.” Hill, who popularized the song, rendered his service as a back up vocal for Pacquiao’s cover.

It will be recalled that Pacquiao performed the song last year on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Now, he is set to return on the said late night program to debut his Dan Hill cover as a single that will be available on iTunes eventually.

The Q&A is perhaps the reason why Supsup, Necio and Manjon won in Bb. Pilipinas last night. Check out how they hurdled this portion.

The Question and Answer portion of any beauty pageant is considered to be the climax of the competition. This is the part where the judges will most-likely decide who the winner(s) will be and last night’s Q&A portion of Bb. Pilipinas 2011 was quite interesting.
Who did you think gave the best answer? The most sincere? The best example of “grace under pressure”?

Singer Geneva Cruz stripped down for an alluring new ad

Singer Geneva Cruz stripped down for an alluring new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia. The ad shows Cruz, a longtime vegan, posing in her birthday suit in a vegetable garden while clutching an armful of tomatoes, and the caption reads, “Go Natural. Go Vegan.” The ad is being launched just after the star’s April 2 birthday.

Cruz was just 15 years old when she decided to stop eating animals. Now a staunch vegan, she says, “For me, being vegan is not about the diet. It’s really about my love for all creatures.”
Animals who are raised and killed for food endure immeasurable cruelty and are denied everything that is natural and important to them. On factory farms, cows, pigs, and chickens are kept in crowded, filthy enclosures, which are often so small that the animals are unable to lie down comfortably. Many animals are forced to stand amid their own urine and feces.
Cows are routinely branded, dehorned, and castrated without being given any painkillers. Pigs are castrated, and their tails and teeth are cut or broken off—also without any pain relief. Chickens are drugged and bred to grow so rapidly that they become crippled from supporting the weight of their own massive upper bodies. Birds’ throats are cut while they are still conscious, and many birds are scalded to death in defeathering tanks.
In addition to being cruelty-free, a diet that excludes meat, eggs, and dairy products can lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and acne in adults as well as allergies, ear infections, and juvenile-onset diabetes in children. Ninety percent of Filipinos are lactose-intolerant, and avoiding dairy products can help people’s bodies work more efficiently. A healthy vegan diet can also help anyone stay slim.
Cruz says, “In addition to saving countless animals every year, the health benefits of a vegan diet are countless, whereas the consumption of animal-derived foods has been linked to not only heart disease and cancer but also multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis.”
Meat and dairy production also contaminates water and soil with animal waste. Worldwide, farmed animals produce 13 billion metric tons of excrement a year—that’s 48 times as much as the world’s human population produces. Each day, animal agriculture consumes 2.5 trillion liters of water—enough for every person in the world to take eight showers.
Animal grazing has been responsible for loss of topsoil and eventual desertification in many parts of the world. The animals destroy the land’s protective vegetation. Then wind removes the soil and converts formerly productive rangeland into desert. Forest lands in China and South America are being destroyed to clear space for grazing or to grow food for farmed animals.
A recent United Nations report concluded that a global shift toward a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change.
“Geneva Cruz knows that going vegan is the best and simplest thing that people can do for animals, the environment, and their own health,” says PETA Asia Director Jason Baker.
“Animals are beaten, kicked, and stomped on at factory farms and slaughterhouses”, says Cruz. “Each one of us can fight these abuses by refusing to consume the products of the meat, egg, and dairy industries.”
Cruz joins a host of international stars—including Pamela Anderson, Natalie Portman, Sir Paul McCartney, Maggie Q, and Barbie Hsu—who have kicked the meat habit.
Photographer Niccolo Cosme shot Cruz’s PETA ad, and Bernabe Pacson designed the set. Cruz’s makeup and hair were done by Nina’s Touch.

mother of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, said she lost a ring worth P180,000

MANILA, Philippines - Dionesia Pacquiao, mother of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, said she lost a ring worth P180,000 in her hometown of General Santos City in Sarangani province.
The ring, which she has been keeping for 11 years, was given to her by Jinkee, the Filipino boxing icon's wife.

She said it was likely that the ring slipped from her finger while walking along J. Catolico Street at Barangay Lagao in General Santos City last Friday.
She wore the ring on her left ring finger after it got too tight on her right finger.
The Filipino boxing icon's mom tried searching for the ring again on Saturday morning, but failed to find it.
Mommy Dionesia hopes that she can get her ring back, saying that she is willing to give a reward to anyone who can return it.
Despite her loss, she said she won't ask her son for a replacement. -- Report from Francis Canlas, ABS-CBN SOKSARGEN

Ferdinand Marcos' Australian daughter Analisa Hegyesi, 40, has claimed that she was axed

(SPOT.ph) Ferdinand Marcos' Australian daughter Analisa Hegyesi, 40, has claimed that she was axed from the Australian home makeover reality show The Renovators after she told the producers her father's identity last week, reports PEP.ph.

The interior designer told The Telegraph that she made it to the final cut after months of auditioning only to be removed after revealing her father was Marcos. "The thing is that I've had to juggle my business and clients to make time for the show after I was asked to audition and then chosen from hundreds of people around Australia."

She added, "I was chosen on my own merits but then I was dropped due to aspects of my private life which I will not discuss... I was told there was a fear, too, attention would be paid to me and not the show and other contestants."

The Telegraph cited an insider at the production company Shine Australia who said the staff thought it was harsh and unfair to axe Hegyesi for the "the sins of her father." Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Channel 10, which will air The Renovators, said Hegyesi's removal was routine and that they have not finalized the cast.

Hegyesi was born to former Sydney swimwear and Playboy model Evelin Hegyesi, who was involved with Marcos in the 1970s, when the late strongman already had three children with wife Imelda. The model was 19 when she met Marcos, according to PEP.ph.

In 2004, Hegyesi and her mother were accused of having ties to Marcos' secret bank accounts in Switzerland and Liechtenstein that supposedly contained ill-gotten wealth, reports PEP.ph.

TV5 suspends participation of minors

TV5 on Wednesday, March 30, announced that it will impose a moratorium on the participation of minors in all of the network's contests and game shows.
The suspension was the network's reaction to an ongoing probe of the Commission on Human Rights and the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board and a complaint from the Department of Social Welfare and Development on the alleged maltreatment of a six-year-old contestant in the early evening program "Willing Willie."

In an advisory sent to Yahoo! OMG! Philippines, TV5 also indicated it was "conducting a thorough investigation on the incident." The network also said it has enforced "stricter guidelines on the appearance and performance of minors, particularly children, on all TV5 programs. In addition, it said all auditions on "Willing Willie" will "be supervised by TV5 representatives designated by the TV5 Ombudsman."

The advisory said TV5 Chief Legal Counsel Christine Ona has been designated as the network's Ombudsman. Ona is tasked to handle viewer complaints regarding its programs.

Furthermore, TV5 said it welcomes external probes on the matter.

"We welcome the hearings of the MTRCB and other bodies as opportunities to further thresh out the issues and find solutions that will address the many concerns that have been expressed," the statement said.

Aga Muhlach signed up with TV5 today, March 30, to be the newest Kapatid.

The veteran actor and matinee idol signed a three-year non-exclusive contract with TV5. He is slated to do three major projects with the network including a hosting stint for the local franchise of a very popular reality show.

Present at his contract signing were (right) TV5 President and CEO Atty. Ray C. Espinosa and (left) Executive Vice President and COO Roberto V. Barreiro.

Rumor has it that the said reality program that Aga is about to host is the Philippine edition of the Emmy award-winning “The Amazing Race.” However, the Kapatid network is still in the process of getting the rights for the said reality show.
