Star Wars Re-Release in 3D
Lucasfilm announced today that they will be releasing the 3D conversions of the entire Star Wars saga starting in 2012. Rumors go back and forth between them releasing one film per year to a timeline quicker than that. Lucasfilm told me that it's too early to discuss the release pattern. The first film released will be The Phantom Menace. Starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace. THR is reporting that February 2012 is the basic timeframe. Previously we'd only heard 'early 2012,' with the other five remasters to follow on roughly an annual schedule, assuming each previous release does well. John Knoll, a visual effects supervisor of Ilm which oversees the 3-D conversion of "Star Wars", has previously said that they won't do the conversion in a rush. "Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right," he stated.
