Lady Gaga's new video is such trash I think I need to cleanse my soul with this clip of new Britney Spears song "The Big Fat Bass," which was produced by will.i.am. Oh, fuck—what am I saying?
Fergieney sounds like a total robot ho, and this might as well be "The Time (Dirty Bit) Pt. II," it's so bland. The only good part is that slightly house-y piano at the beginning.
Pop music in 2011 may have just seriously jumped the shark today.

The Amazing Race: Amanda & Kris Eliminated with Zev & Justin First to Pit Stop
Running around the streets of an Australian Outback town called Broken Hill, searching for two items on the Periodic Table, Mercury and Bismuth, while costumed as Kangaroos, was the funniest part of the Second Episode of Season 18 of The Amazing Race.
Jet finally figuring out what the compass was spelling and then managing to make it, with his brother, Cord, 3rd to the Pit Stop was a pretty good turnaround.
Amanda & Kris pretty much got the guarantee of being the first team eliminated way back in Palm Springs when they were last to figure out the Quantas clue, thus giving them the penalty of having to complete both of the first detours on the race. In other words they got U-Turned, just like what happened to them the first time they raced. That gave them Unfinished Business that I guess is still unfinished.
Zev & Justin have not lost their passports again, yet, and made it first to the Pit Stop at a silver mine built in 1884 called Junction Mine. Coming in first got Zev & Justin a trip to Cancun.
I didn't much care for the detours. Before the teams found their way to the Outback and the detours they had to find "To Sail to Stop" in Sydney. This is where the clue sent them when Phil told them they were still racing at the Pit Stop on the first episode. The first 6 teams to figure out the clue signed up for the first flight to Broken Hill, 684 miles from Sydney.
Kisha & Jen, Zev & Justin, Margie & Luke, Jaime & Cara, Mel & Mike and Kent & Vyxsin were first to sign up.
Gary & Mallory made it first to the first Pit Stop, but along with Amanda & Kris, they had trouble finding the next clue til they paired up with Ron & Christina.
That left the Cowboys the last to sign up for the flight to Broken Hill.
Once they got to Broken Hill, then the Living Desert had to be found. When the teams found the Living Desert they found the detours, Spirit World or Natural World. Make a mosaic and then dance on it in Spirit World. Or spit four Aboriginal territory markers with paint in the Natural World.
It was a bit of a confusing mess with all the teams taking the mosaic option. Upon successful completion the next clue sent them back to Broken Hill to find the Central Football Club. It was the clue at the Football Club that put them in Kangaroo suits.
Zev & Justin made it first to the Kangaroos. Margie & Luke teamed up with Zev & Justin. A local let them use a smart phone to figure out what the element symbols meant. I guess it pays to know how to use a smart phone on The Amazing Race. Margie lost part of her Kangaroo which sent her & Luke back with the rest of the pack of Kangaroos running for the clue.
Eventually all the Kangaroos figured out the clue and got in their cars to race to Junction Mine to the Pit Stop.
Amanda & Kris nearly made it past Ron & Christina for the 10th spot, but in the end, they came in last.
Flight Time & Big Easy came in 2nd, followed by the Cowboys, then Kisha & Jen, Margie & Luke, Mel & Mike, Kent & Vyxsin, Jaimie & Cara, Gary & Mallory and I already told you the next two places.
Mel is seeming a bit out of shape for all this heavy duty racing. It's nice how Mike is always so concerned for his dad. But 70 years old and doing this? How did Mel pass the physical?
I did not watch the previews so I have no idea where they go next week.

It's Take That's Spacey "Kidz" Video
If you're looking for a sci fi-themed music video infused with a bit of menace that's a far more enjoyable ride than Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," then look no further than Take That's "Kidz."
The UK man band arrives from outer space and invades the Earth to have a little song and dance in the clip for their second single off their smash album Progress. It's a simple concept—albeit one that borrows from several recent movies—but it works.
I have tickets to see these hot pieces live in Italy in four-and-a-half months. Can't wait!

It's Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" Video
Alright, all you Madonna loons. Let's just get this out of the way right up front. There are absolutely no similarities between Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and Madge's "Vogue" music videos...
...none at all.
I have to say, while I defended the song two-and-a-half weeks ago when it premiered, the Nick Knight/Haus Of Gaga co-directed video for "Born This Way" falls into the same trap the one for "Alejandro" did: dark, depressing and doesn't match the feel of the song at all.
What's with all her clips made for the gay community being these dreary, murky gloom fests, while sassy lady-anthem jams like "Telephone" get bright, eye-popping vids?
Ick.

83rd Annual Academy Awards Was Slow & Boring & Badly Hosted By James Franco & Anne Hathaway
The 83rd Annual Academy Awards started a bit slow and wobbly and seemed to get slower and wobblier as the show progressed.
Kurt Douglas was a perfect metaphor for last night's Academy Awards. Slow and wobbly.
I made it past the Kurt Douglas part, then bailed soon after James Franco showed up as Marilyn Monroe. I suppose this could have somehow been funny. But it wasn't.
The show lasted over 3 hours. I think I lasted for a bit over an hour.
I read that producers asked the potential winners to make short speeches, should they win. And not to pull out a piece of paper off which a long list of names, no one has ever heard of, is read. Most did not listen to the speech instructions.
It seemed to me that James Franco and Anne Hathaway were hosting failures. Way too much giggling as they made their way through lame jokes and repartee.
Nothing I read this morning about last night's show is making me want to watch the 2 hours I missed.

UK Chart Roundup: Oh, Yeah? Well, Just Wait Till Adele's Sex Tape Leaks!
Adele's sex tape—sorry, album—21 was finally released in the U.S. this past week, and is on track to debut at #1 of the Billboard Top 200. But in the UK, her sex tape has been inserted in the VCR for the past five weeks. She also thrust her ballad "Someone Like You" at the top of the UK singles chart, where it stays for a second week.
Let's just hope Adele's sex tape is nominated for 69 Oscars next year, because that's the only way the Academy will redeem itself from the utter shit telecast happening right now.
PS Been traveling this weekend. Back to normal trash tomorrow.
The UK Top 10:
1. "Someone Like You" - Adele *2 weeks*
2. "Price Tag" - Jessie J feat. B.o.B

A starry-eyed Tobe, still captivated by his crush, befriends Monica, further complicating her difficult life. Kim Cattrall gives a career-defining performance in this offbeat love story that appeals to the dreamer — and the nerd — in all of us.

Just hours after the Chris Brown blonde hair picture hit the internet, the singer was shocked that his new look made news in a short time, "It's crazy how me changing my hair makes CNN!! isn't there more important news!! Just proved my point!!!" he tweeted.
Brown’s fourth album “F.A.M.E.” will be released on March 22. It seems the singer has already gained F.A.M.E. before the release of his album of the same name.
83rd Annual Academy Awards With James Franco & Anne Hathaway Hosting
Tonight is the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Show. On ABC. Live, starting at 8 Eastern Time, 7 Central Time and 5 Pacific Time.
For the majority of my existence I've watched the Academy Awards while living in the Pacific Time Zone. For over a decade I've been in the Central Time Zone.
I prefer the Oscar Show starting at 5 and being over by 9. Rather than starting at 7 and lasting past 11.
I've not made it through an entire Academy Awards Show since I've been in the Central Time Zone.
I have seen none of the nominated movies. Not a single one. I do know that the King's Speech is about the stuttering father of the current Queen of England. And that Colin Firth is expected to be named the Best Actor.
Or maybe it will be James Franco for the movie where he hacked off his arm to rescue himself from a Utah rock.
Natalie Portman is the likely, supposedly, Best Actress frontrunner for playing a ballerina in Black Swan.
I think the remake of True Grit is a Best Picture nominee, with Jeff Bridges in the John Wayne role.
That's about it that I know about this year's movies.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway are the hosts for tonight's show. I don't think I've ever seen Anne Hathaway in a movie. I've seen several James Franco movies. It will be interesting how this pair does as hosts. A David Letterman level bomb? Or a Billy Crystal like surprise?
I'll give the show a half hour and hope it keeps my interest.

Yoyo Padi Ditangkap Polisi!
Emang mukanya udah tampang kriminal sih!

Winnie the Pooh’ (2011) Movie
This is the first big screen Pooh adventure since the beloved Disney character was conceptualized 35 years ago.
Narrated by John Cleese, the movie features a talented voice cast led by Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson, Tom Kenny, Travis Oates and Bud Luckey. The film is directed by Stephen Anderson and Don Hall.
Synopsis: Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh,” the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. With the charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. “Well a tail is either there or it isn’t there,” said Pooh. “And yours isn’t… there.” Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style.

James Van Der Beek Whips Off His Bra In Ke$ha's "Blow" Video
Jesus, I travel for one day and Ke$ha has to go and release her video for "Blow," which features laughing unicorns, rainbow laser guns and cheesy (literally) dialogue and sexy flirtation between the New Queen Of Soul and James Van Der Beek. The classiest part is when he reaches into his shirt and rips off his black bra.
And just what is it about a campy video that can often make a highly mediocre song seem listenable? Major bonus for "James Van Der Douche."
P.S. still not understanding how this trash tune took six writers and four producers to get made.

Never Let Me Go Movie (2011)
Never Let Me Go is a British drama film starring Carey Mulligan (An Education), Keira Knightley (Atonement), and Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Social Network).
“Never Let Me Go” is an alternate history story of a woman who, as she reflects on her private school years in the English countryside, reunites with her two friends to face the dark secrets tied to their communal past.
The film was based on Kazuo Ishiguro‘s 2005 novel of the same name. It was directed by Mark Romanek from a screenplay written by Alex Garland.
Here is the critical analysis of the film according to Wikipedia:
Never Let Me Go has received generally positive reviews from critics, with the cast’s performances being praised whereas the film’s overall result has been viewed as a disappointment by some reviewerswhen compared to the novel. A Daily Mail reporter declared the film to be “the most haunting film about love and death I’ve ever seen” and film critic David Gritten of The Daily Telegraph saluted the film and applauded the production and the performances of its supporting cast. Saul Austerlitz, a correspondent to the Boston Globe, felt that the film struck a “mournful note” and believed that certain images in the film, such as a tree in an empty field, “possess a haunting power directly lifted from the best of Romanek’s video work”, while respecting the themes in Ishiguro’s novel. The Hollywood Reporter writer Jay A. Fernandez said that Never Let Me Go was an engaging film, but overall thought that its end result did not have the “devastating emotional impact of the book”. Cleveland Magazine’s Clint O’Connor strongly approved the acting performance of Garfield and Eric Kohn from indieWIRE praised the script and photography by Kimmel and Garland.“Never Let Me Go” opens March 2 exclusively in Ayala Cinemas from 20th Century Fox distributed by Warner Bros.
In a short review for the film, Chris Knight of the National Post wrote that the film was able to capture the wistfulness and its unpredictable tone of Ishiguro’s novel, but added that it “spills the beans much sooner”. Mark Jenkins of NPR called Never Let Me Go a “remarkably successful adaptation” of Ishiguro’s book, but acknowledged that Romanek and Garland “do make a few missteps,” which were mostly the result of the limitations of turning the novel’s contents into a film. Entertainment Weekly film critic Owen Gleiberman described the film as feeling like a “period piece” and rated the film a C+. Reuters’s Stephen Farber called the film a disappointment because although the film was “expertly acted, impeccably photographed, intelligently written” and “even intermittently touching,” Never Let Me Go is “too parched and ponderous to connect with a large audience”. He said that the film not completely laying out the logic of its parallel universe, such as the cloning process, and its theme of the dangers of medical experimentation being “rather tired” were among the problems with Never Let Me Go.
Slant Magazine writer Ed Gonzalez gave the film a two out of four star rating, saying that in Never Let Me Go the characters’ actions do not feel “appropriately warped” while the interactions between the teachers and students is not “at all rife with the what-are-they-thinking-about-us mystery of the book.” In a positive review from Andrew O’Hehir of Salon.com, he wrote that in the film Romanek “does so many difficult things beautifully in this movie” and thought that it carried a reminder that life is short regardless of how long it last rather than a “lecture about the horrors of human history”. Tom Preston from The Guardian described Mulligan and Garfield’s acting as being solid, while commenting that Knightley’s emotional performances are occasionally jarring. He further wrote that although Never Let Me Go finely demonstrated subtlety in the film, its screenplay could have been written with less compression in some parts. Writing in Newsweek, Louisa Thomas praised the film for its beauty and its performances but also declared that “there’s something just missing here.”
Marshall Fine of The Huffington Post noted that like the novel, the film is difficult to embrace. He also said that the film does work on a “suspense level”, due to Romanek creating a “quiet, leisurely pace that would not be out of place in a yoga class” and stated that he “no doubt was aiming for an eerie, Children of the Damned, vibe, except that it’s the children who are damned”. The writer concluded that Never Let Me Go’s final result is a “staid, lifeless tale that never talks about what it’s about, or at least not enough to provoke deep thoughts on the subject.” Film critic Rex Roberts of Film Journal International thought that the film was moderately surprising given Romanek and Garland’s previous work, saying that they “show real affinity for the subtle shades of resignation and quiet desperation that characterize Isighuro’s prose and, as would be expected, accentuate the unsettling eeriness that pervades Never Let Me Go.” Roberts also felt that Mulligan and Knightley were unconvincing in their roles due to the age differences.
The Canadian Press’s Christy Lemire stated that the film was a “gorgeous, provocative look at humanity” and observed that like its characters, the film “demands much of its audiences emotionally.” She concluded that Never Let Me Go is worth the investment. The Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan thought that the film was “passionate about deliberation and restraint” and believed that the latter may not appeal to its audience. Scott Bowles, writing for USA Today, gave the film a negative review, declaring “never was a movie so bleak and empty”. He claimed that Never Let Me Go did not “embrace the book’s unrelentingly dark tones” but rather wallowed in them and commented that not even the cast’s performance, particularly Garfield’s, were enough to redeem the film. New York Times journalist Manohla Dargis said that the film presented “the aspect of a tasteful shocker” because its “cruelty is done so prettily and with such caution that the sting remains light”.
Two and a Half Men Ends
CBS has had enough of Charlie Sheen‘s antics. The network and Warner Bros. Television abruptly cancelled the hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men” on Thursday following Sheen’s rant in a radio show.
“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season,” CBS and Warner Bros. Television said in a statement.
On Thursday morning, Sheen went on air during the “Alex Jones Show” to blast “Two and a Half Men” producer Chuck Lorre, among other targets. In his rant, Sheen called Lorre a “clown” and suggested that the writer known for being behind some of the biggest television shows past and present was an ingrate.
“There’s something this side of deplorable that a certain Chaim Levine — yeah, that’s Chuck’s real name — mistook this rock star for his own selfish exit strategy, bro,” Sheen said. “Last I checked, Chaim, I spent close to the last decade effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.”

American Idol's Season 10 Top 24
I let the DVR get a half hour ahead before I started watching American Idol on Thursday.
After watching an hour I had caught up with the recording. I think I must have fast forwarded past some key moments.
When did the singing in the aircraft hangar take place? On Wednesday duos or trios sang Beatles songs in Las Vegas.
As the various singers took the long walk to sit in front of the judges, to learn if they were in the Top 24, we'd cut to scenes of what led them to that point. Including singing solo in an aircraft hangar.
I really need to cut down on my use of the fast forward button.
This year the age limit was lowered to 15. But none of the 15 year olds made it through. I thought 15 year old Jacee Badeaux was a shoo-in. He'd gotten an awful lot of camera time. And was quite likable. And seemed to sing well to my tone deaf ears.
Next week the voting starts up. The males sing on Tuesday, followed by the girls on Wednesday, followed by the Thursday results show.
The male Top 12 are Casey Abrams, 20, of Idyllwild, Calif.; Jovany Barreto, 23, Harvey, La.; Jordan Dorsey, 21, Donaldsville, La.; James Durbin, 22, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Clint Jun Gamboa, 26, Long Beach, Calif., and Tim Halperin, 23, Fort Worth, Texas, Stefano Langone, 21, Kent, Wash.; Brett Loewenstern, 17, Boca Raton, Fla.; Jacob Lusk, 23, Compton, Calif.; Scotty McCreery, 17, Garner, N.C.; Paul McDonald, 26, Nashville, Tenn., and Robbie Rosen, 17, Merrick, N.Y.
The female Top 12 are Naima Adedapo, 26, Milwaukee, Wisc.; Lauren Alaina, 16, Rossville, Ga.; Kendra Chantelle, 22, Nashville, Tenn.; Ashthon Jones, 24, Nashville, Tenn.; Thia Megia, 16, Mountain House, Calif., and Haley Reinhart, 20, Wheeling, Ill., Karen Rodriguez, 21, New York; Pia Toscano, 22, Howard Beach, N.Y.; Lauren Turner, 24, Slidell, La.; Tatynisa Wilson, 20, Aurora, Ill.; Julie Zorrilla, 20, Los Angeles and Rachel Zevita, 23, New York.
This year in addition to voting by phone and text message you can also vote via Facebook. How that works I have no idea. But I do know for almost 100% certainty that I won't be voting.
