Amy Adams has been tapped to play new Superman Henry Cavill’s romantic inspiration, Lois Lane, in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming reboot of the Man of Steel.
Snyder told the Los Angeles Times that he knew he had found his Lois Lane after talking to the 36-year-old, three-time Academy Award nominee. “There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
Adams is the latest main character to be added to the Superman reboot, which also has Diane Lane and Kevin Costner playing Superman/Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. Snyder did not reveal details about Adams’ role, describing it only as “a linchpin” to the highly anticipated project. “Superman: Man of Steel” is expected to hit theaters in December 2012.
