James Cameron To Direct Avatar 2 & 3

James Cameron has made up his mind. He can't get Avatar out of his head. And he's doing the right thing, shooting two sequels to Avatar (possibly back to back), because he's going to give audiences more of what they want. (Reminder: Avatar grossed $ $2.8 billion worldwide, bolstered by premium 3-D prices, and tops Blu-ray sales records.) And he'll plow some of the huge R & D that Fox put into the cost of Avatar back to work on the sequels. And he will remind us of what top-of-the-line 3-D can be. Immersive. Engrossing. Welcoming us into another world, in this case, Pandora. Don't you want to go back there? Holiday 2014 and 2015 seem very far away.

Avatar Special Edition Re-Release Trailer

20th Century Fox has started airing a TV spot for the August 27 re-release of James Cameron's Avatar in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D theaters. The "Special Edition" version of the film includes 8 minutes of never before seen footage of which you get a brief glimpse in this TV spot.

Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.

Avatar Returning to 3D & IMAX 3D Theaters on August 27

20th Century Fox has announced that James Cameron's Avatar will be re-released into Digital 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on August 27 with over 8 minutes of never before seen footage!

"Since - and largely as of result of - Avatar's release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D, as well as fans that want to return to Pandora again, will now have that opportunity," the studio said.

The Oscar and Golden Globe winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.
