Ziggy Marley is giving away his world cup commemorative single "Africa Land'

For this song, Marley recruited Grammy winning artists, brother Stephen Marley and African mega star Angelique Kidjo. Together they created a catchy, danceable song, which incorporates Dancehall Reggae, as well as African elements. Free Downloads will be available beginning June 7 at www.ziggymarley.com and www.tuffgongworldwide.com.
“The bible says ‘the first shall be last and the last shall be first.’ How fitting that South Africa – the last nation on the homeland to be free – is the launch pad for a global event that will showcase the rise of the African continent,” said Ziggy Marley. “Africa Land is the song which celebrates that dream becoming true.”
Marley plans to release "Africa Land" as an exclusive to African radio, to be followed worldwide as a free download shortly thereafter. Africa Land will be the first single from an upcoming collection of free singles entitled The Wild and Free Singles Marley is to release later this year.
Ziggy Marley's early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father. Then, as front man to Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, Marley released eight best-selling albums, generating three Grammys, with such chart-topping hits as Tomorrow People and Tumbling Down. Marley's solo debut, Dragonfly, was released in 2003. His second solo release, Love Is My Religion, won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album to much critical acclaim in 2006. His third solo release, Family Time, scored him a Grammy in a new category: Best Musical Album For Children.

Shane Shillingford making Dominica proud!!!!! West Indies what took you guys so dyam long???

(Brooks LaTouche Photography)

According to DigicelCricket.com
Debutant off spinner Shane Shillingford made the best of a rain curtailed and soggy first day of the First Digicel Test at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The tall Dominican enjoyed a fine start to his international career in grim conditions, as he extracted the two South African openers at a cost of five miserly runs from a six over spell.
The Proteas – the second highest ranking Test team in the world – closed the day in the uncomfortable position of 70 for 3, with veteran batting maestro Jacques Kallis on 6 and nightwatchman Paul Harris not yet off the mark.
Shillingford, delivering with a bounding run up and sprightly action, accounted for Alviro Petersen via the lbw route for 31 and Captain Graeme Smith was caught at first slip by his nemesis Dwayne Bravo for 23.
The day’s proceedings left the West Indies in the unfamiliar position of a slight ascendency on the opening day of a Test match against a top ranked side.
Yes, my boy. Do your thing. Make DA proud!!!!

Naomi Campbell unveils FIFA 2010 Louis Vuitton, World Cup Trophy Carrying Case

Featuring the label's iconic monogram canvas, the case was commissioned by FIFA and was handmade in Louis Vuitton's original workshop, located in Asnières in 1859. Since the World Cup was first founded in 1930, the trophy has always traveled via armored metal case. 2010 marks the first year that the cup will be carried in such high fashion. According to Antoine Arnault, an LV spokesperson:
There was no reason why security couldn't be synonymous with elegance.
Louis Vuitton has also been commissioned to design the cup's travel wardrobe for the 2014 tournament.

Bolt's track is complete!

The blue and white eight-lane track is located to the north of the university's other main sporting facilities, namely, its four football fields, the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Ground, three tennis courts, a swimming pool and an indoor court. The university intends to create a Sporting Centre of Excellence, similar to that of the Australian Sports Academy.
The next phase of planned developments include a 6,000-seat mini-stadium with lighting, a football academy - in partnership with the Jamaica Football Federation - and a Caribbean Institute of Sports Medicine.

Shirley, DSW’s Ulf Poeppe, IAAF regional representative, Neville 'Teddy' McCook, UWI director of sports, Grace Jackson, and Bolt's coach, Glen Mills were all on hand for the official ribbon cutting. Many notables in the sports world were present including FIFA reps, Adidas Reps, Puma, Courtney Walsh, Racers Track team members were present as well.

I must mention Captain Horace Burrell (Head of Jamaica's Football Federation) who arrived via helicopter in the middle of Professor Shirley's speech. That was entertaining to say the least. Usain's Coach gave a very entertaining speech. It was full of gratitude and sincerity but most of all light-hearted and filled with humour. One thing that was missing from the festivities, was recognition was not paid to the UWI Students who have been living next door to this construction zone. As a resident on Rex Nettleford Hall, it has not been easy dealing with all the dust, so a show of appreciation would have gone a long way. We do see the big picture though, and I am sure most if not all UWI students are happy for this addition.

Coca-Cola and FIFA Give Teens Chance To Visit South Africa
The 60-year-union between Coca-Cola and FIFA has been nothing short of creative and trailblazing since Coca-Cola’s days of merely advertising at every FIFA World Cup in 1950. So successful has it been, that their offsprings (football fans and Coca-Cola consumers), will benefit from the perfectly blissful union. This year, the majestic duo has scored a landmark goal by embarking on a FIFA promotion that will leave Jamaican tongues wagging for months to come. As the longest-standing corporate partner of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Coca-Cola has gained exclusive rights to retain 12 Jamaican students between the ages of 12-16 to travel to South Africa to become official flag bearers at the opening ceremony for the World Cup.
Unbelievable, but true. Teens can now step away from their Wii consuls and experience the action live in South Africa. The 12 lucky students will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the African Safari, play games, visit sites, and ofcourse be a flag bearer for one of his/her favourite football teams while millions look on and cheer – all for free. Again, incredible, but true. The four days and three nights will be nothing short of exciting for the young minds.
The trip which is endorsed by the Jamaican Ministry of Education is guaranteed to be a safe one for the students, so parents and guardians can rest assured that the children will be heavily supervised by chaperones and security at all times for the duration of their trip.
Chris Hardy, Coca-Cola’s Country Manager says, “We have referred to the Coca-Cola/FIFA experience as a union and our patrons and supporters as our children because that is how we feel. Coca-Cola has had a formal association with FIFA since 1974 until we officially started sponsoring the event in 1978 and I think being a part of a venture for more than half a century says something about our word being our bond and our dedication to our consumers.”
“When we came up with this promotion we explored it from every angle and we have made sure that everything will be in place the moment the teens step on the plane to the moment they return to the island. In fact, I think we have gone a bit overboard with the chaperones and security, but we want to ensure that our students are safe. That’s top priority for us, though we also want them to learn, have fun and be a part of the International Coca-Cola and World Cup experience in Africa,” concluded Hardy.
All the students, ages 12-16 years old will need to do is purchase either a Coca-Cola Classic, Coke Zero or Coke Light and write their name, age, school and the name of the host country on the back of the label(s), then drop them off at any of the selected locations across the island. It’s that simple. The students are allowed to enter as many times as they wish, and all expenses for the trip will be taken care of by Coca-Cola. The draw takes place April 27.

Alicia Keys set to kick off world Cup alongside Black Eyed Peas and John Legend!

Other acts include Colombian superstars Juanes and Shakira, Mali's acclaimed duo Amadou & Mariam, desert blue's outfit Tinariwen, Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, and Benin's Angelique Kidjo. So far, host country South Africa has three acts in the line-up: rock acts BLK JKS and the Parlotones, and folk singer-songwriter Vusi Mahlasela.
It is the first time the tournament has been staged in Africa. The concert takes place June 10 at the newly-renovated Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg's Soweto township on the day before the 2010 tournament gets underway. It's the first time FIFA has staged a multi-artist "kick-off" concert of this nature, with more acts expected to be added to the line-up in the coming weeks.
Tickets priced from 450 rand ($62) to 1,150 rand ($158) went on sale today (March 17). The capacity of the stadium is 40,000. The last FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006 attracted a global cumulative television audience of 26.29 billion for the tournament, according to FIFA.

Lava pregnant by Usain Bolt????
Tongues of course are wagging. When you are in such a high profile position every one and their mama is gonna want to have a say in or about your affairs. Already Lava is being labeled a gold-digger etc, etc.... I heard she is originally Jamaican so what are people going to say now??? I don't know much about her but I am not a fan... I think more than her announcement on VH1 is her phone call to Entertainment Prime basically saying she was upset about the fact that Usain Googled her... I don't get that. Well as someone tried to explain to me her saying that they met at a party is a better story....Au contraire, if I was googled by someone who for whatever reason heard about me or saw something they liked, I would not be ashamed about it. In fact if we end up getting together it would make a great story for our kids:-)Anyways listen to her talk about it in the vid below:
