Pop star Janet Jackson accidentally unveiled her recent split from erstwhile boyfriend Jermaine Dupri in an Atlanta radio interview. In the 'The Bert Show', Janet referred to Jermaine as her "ex" that affirmed the rumored rocky state of their relationship since July. According to Janet, she didn't keep in touch with any of her ex-lovers apart from Jermaine.
In her words, Janet Jackson insisted that: "I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that. But Jermaine is one of my best friends. I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk." It was during the wake of Michael Jackson that she and the 37 year old music executive had decided that they need to end their 7 year relationship. The 43 year old singer pointed out that the reason for their breakup is that she already felt "suffocated". A friend of the couple lamented that: "You shouldn't mix business with pleasure. Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate." All they need is time to be away from each other and to move in separate directions. It was Jermaine who produced several tracks from Janet's last two albums. That's why she felt Jermaine has become too involved in all aspects of her life and she needs a rest from all that.

"His friends are telling people it's over, They have been moving in different directions for a while." a source told the new issue of Us Weekly.
A mutual friend revealed the reason for the split was due to different personalities and the conflicts arised when the couple worked together.
"You shouldn't mix business with pleasure, Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate… Jermaine likes to be out there, mingling with everybody, and Janet's more shy."
Meanwhile, another insider said Janet is still deeply mourning the death of her big brother Michael Jackson.
"She's devastated. She's busy caring for Michael's kids. Janet's the family's backbone."
Dupri was noticeably absent from Michael's memorial service on July 7.
