This Knife Stabs and Then Explodes What It Stabbed

The deadliest knife ever made, ever.
You could just stab someone regular style, but what if I told you there was another way? A way that involved exploding them while stabbing them? Yes, I will most certainly go on.

The WASP knife is intended for divers who need to defend themselves against shark attacks (yes, it gets even more awesome) by Jaws-caliber sharks who aren't put off by simple stabbing.
You see, fellow violence-crazed individual, the WASP knife, upon stabbing, injects the victim with a basketball-sized, freezing ball of compressed gas that instantly splodes them from the inside out--but not before freezing their internal organs. It's so fast that if you stabbed a Great White with one of these, the blood wouldn't even hit the water before the inflated shark rose to the surface.
The sickest thing? You can just buy these online. Yep. No special license or anything. Knife Center has them for $399.95 each. Please don't use them on actual living creatures.
Here you can see John Stamos being coated in meat and blood for his portrayal of a WASP Knife victim in the Law & Order: SVU episode that aired May 4th. As you might suspect, this requires copious amounts of cow guts.

Until now the security forces have taken a soft-handed approach even in the face of constant attacks by gunmen which resulted in the deaths of two cops and the injury of six others.

The cops were attacked as they attempted to clear a roadblock at Mountain View Avenue.

Stung by the deaths of their colleagues lawmen have launched on offensive on Tivoli Gardens, Coke's stomping ground and the power base of Prime Minister Bruce Golding's West Kingston constituency.

There were also reports that the violence had spread to sections of a community known as 'Southside' near to the Kingston Central Police station. Jamaica Defence Force soldiers and police have been deployed to that area to quell the disturbance.

Gunmen and police were also engaged in a running gunbattle in the Central Kingston community of Woodford Park.

So far there are no reports of injuries.

Insensitive Cartoons adding salt to wounds of shot artist

OK Clovis we get it already...you think that violent lyrics in Dancehall are directly reponsible for crime and now its coming back to bite the artists that spew them. But dang how many times this week are you gonna try to force this view down the throat of everyone that visits your papers site??? One for each artist that gets shot????

Here is the most recent carton, showing Oneil Edwards (of Voicemail) and Mad Cobra in a hospital bed, being chided for not going to church. So I guess being a member of a church means that crime in Jamaica would be reduced ...like seriously???? Do you know how much crime is done in the name of religion??? But that is another post....

This cartoon below was the first one which was done this week that addressed violence against artists in Dancehall. The thing is Oneil Edwards does not spew violence in his music so the timing was a bit off. Ok so Mad Cobra gets shot up and now a producer from Arms House records is shot, here comes another cartoon (above).

I think it is more than insesitive. Even if it was Vybz Kartel that got shot up, it is still wrong.

Suspect in Oneil Edwards (Voicemail) shooting dead another in police custody

According to the Jamaica Observer:
THE main suspect in the shooting of Voicemail artiste O'Neil Edwards, was found dead in the Chancery Hall community this afternoon, Police said the unidentified man managed to escape a dragnet set up to nab him several hours earlier.

Edwards' cellular phone was found in the dead man's possession. The body was clad in green short pants, white T-shirt and blue slippers and was found on Lady Hamilton Close with several gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile a second suspect was picked up by the Manchester Police in that parish last night and is being transported to Kingston where he will be questioned by senior homicide investigators.

Edwards was attacked and shot several times as he attempted to enter his home at Belloc Avenue in the middle class community of Duhaney Park early Monday morning.

He condition is still critical and he remains hospitalised.

I am glad that there are suspects in the case but as the saying goes, "Dead men tell no tales." To me the article is a bit vague. It says he was found shot by police who basically were hunting him down. So did the police shoot him????

And as for the Observer, their cartoon of the day is drawing some controversy-to the point where comments have been deactivated. Which to me is funny as most of the 30 comments were in support of the cartoon. It portrayed a Dancehall artist in a studio promoting gun violence and then shows said artist laying in the street with gunshot wounds to the chest. The issue of violent lyrics and crime is not a new one, this is a debate that has been brewing for decades. This week two artists (Oneil and Mad Cobra) on different ends of the Dancehall spectrum have been shot. Now Mad Cobra definitely promotes gun violence in his music so some feel that the cartoon is geared towards artists like him. Oneils reps feel that the cartoon is "insensitive", after all he mostly sing about girls and partying and enjoying life-not shooting down the next guy.
And I don't know if I should call it irony or what but the same paper is reporting on Voicemail members talking about the insensitive cartoon, only to have said carton on their site right next to that comment

Personally, I feel the cartoon was in bad taste. We all know the issue at hand, like I said its not a new one. There are many people who have never listened to Voicemail and now associate Oneil with violent Dancehall. Seriously. Instead of going on YouTube and checking out the music, people are going on various forums and just spewing more hate and fueling the cycle.

So who has the right to freedom of speech??? The media, who can turn on and turn off comments at will, who can determine what and how much to put or leave out of stories??? the entertainers who are talking about the life they lived, live and want to live???? or regular folks like you and me that just want to comment on a story cause we can?????

Anyways I hope Oneil pulls through, and Mad Cobra too. He is a human being like you and me.

Update: Oneil Edwards of Voicemail in critical but stable condition, Jamaican entertainers show support with vigil.

Oneil Edwards, one third of Dancehall/Reggae trio Voicemail is in critical but stable condition after being shot at 1:30 am yesterday morning outside his home in Duhaney Park. He was admitted to the Kingston Public Hospital, but from what I have been told, he was transferred to University of the West Indies Hospital for a CAT Scan. He did have surgery and is in critical but stable condition. I am still not to sure as to whether he is at Kingston Public Hospital or UWI Hospital.

I am glad that he is alive and I pray that he will pull through. I love Voicemail's music. When I think of the group, I think of great harmonies and fun -loving topics: love, partying, girls and feeling good. I was so glad when they got the award for Best Video for "Dance The Night Away" (feat. Busy Signal) at the EME Awards this year.

Of course many in the entertainment community are in shock and saddened at the same time. Mr. Vegas, Stacious, Tifa, Natalie Storm, Beenie Man and other artists as well as members of the community met at Half Way Tree Bus Terminal to pray for Oneil and to show solidarity against such violent crimes. Here are some pics below courtesy of AXE-S Media.

Munga says he was arrested for "One Little Splif"

Damian Rhoden aka Munga Honurable recently made headlines for his possession of ganja and an offensive weapon in November of 2009. He appeared in court on Mionday March 22, 2010 where he was fined $2,100 JMD or face 20 days in prison. The fine was paid and he has since been released.

After his arrest, Munga went straight into the studio with Jammy James aka Jam 2 & Camar Doyles aka Flavaunit of JAM 2 Productions to record a single about his arrest and subsequent charge. The single is entitled "One Little Spliff" where he explains the encounter with the police officers and his experience in court. Jam 2 & Camar's production is a sweet reggae one drop ballad that opens the listeners ear to lend solace to Munga's lyrics and melody.

The single has since been released on Friday March 26, 2010 and is expected to receive continuous play both on the radio as well as within the dancehall with it's melodic sound and vintage flavor. This release is the second release between JAM 2 Productions and Munga for 2010, as earlier in March, the two released "Music In My Head" which is currently enjoying favorable radio play on all major radio stations.

2010 has started out very well for the JAM 2 Productions duo who have since released singles such as "All Is Well" by Pressure Buss Pipe, "Move Dem Up" featuring Delly Ranx, Camar & Docta Bird to which a music video will be shot very soon, as well as "Muscle Control" by Camar featuring Lady Saw. The JAM 2 Productions duo will continue to release singles throughout the year and we expect more hits from the camp.

Kartel Mavdo concert in Barbados cancelled!

FOLLOWING weeks of intense public debate and front page headlines in Barbados, the Mavado, Vybz Kartel unity concert scheduled for this weekend has been officially cancelled.

Prime Minister David Thompson made the announcement at a press conference held yesterday, exactly two days before the event. Thompson is quoted in the Barbados Advocate as saying: "That quest to do the right thing by Barbadians prompted my request for the meeting with the organisers of the proposed show and I am happy to announce that in deference to the expressed wishes and the anxieties of a very wide cross-section of Barbadians, that the organisers of the Mavado/Vybz Kartel show and Youth Forum have agreed to the revamping of initiatives resulting in the cancellation of this weekend's activities."

The deejays, Kartel (left) and Mavado, have agreed to the demands for clean-up for the benefit of one and all

The prime minister said that persons were mainly concerned with the idea of these artistes being portrayed as role models.

"Don't leave here in any doubt; anything that has to be done to protect our children in this country will be done," he stressed.

Interestingly, Vybz Kartel, the Gaza president and Mavado, the Gully god performed in Barbados on separate occasions in October and November of last year, during what was then the height of Gully/Gaza tensions between them and their respective supporters. No attempt was reportedly made then by the government nor the police to prevent those concerts, which progressed incident-free.

There have been suggestions in some quarters that the cancellation stemmed in part from the fact that the promoter, Jack Farrell, is Vincentian and therefore should not have been the one to promote an event of this magnitude in Barbados.

"Mavado and Kartel sharing the same stage at a concert promoting peace and unity is huge by any standards. That is a sell-off event. And you must remember that there is a big reggae show in April, put on by promoters based here in Barbados," a source explained.

The commissioner of police, Darwin Dottin had stated initially that he did not have the manpower to police the show, and would therefore not grant the required permit.

That, however, was subsequently reversed and Farrell, who was named as joint promoter with the government-affiliated Barbados Youth Action Programme, subsequently resumed his planning for the event.

Farrell reportedly stated yesterday that the artistes had been booked to arrive in the island last night, but it was not clear whether or not they had actually left Jamaica for Barbados.

Farrell had said previously that a cancellation of the show would mean a loss of more than $200,000 for his company.

"I have invested a lot of money in this show, I've paid the artistes deposits, paid for advertising the show and paid for airline tickets and hotel accommodation, among other things," Farrell reportedly said.

He said the show would bring needed revenue into the country and enhance business for a number of interests such as boutiques and food vendors.

Buju Banton has lost 40 pounds in jail so far! Lawyers want him moved!

According to CaribWorldNews, Buju Banton's Lawyers want him moved out of the Pinellas County Jail where he has been since December.

The attorney for jailed reggae singer, Buju Banton, is requesting an emergency motion to have his client moved out of the current jail facilities.
Attorney David Markus is set to make his case at a hearing set for 10 a.m. Friday, March 27th and is basing his request on dietary concerns.

According to the St. Pete Times, Markus claims the singer, has not been provided with the vegetarian diet according to his Rasta faith and as such, has lost 40 pounds so far.

The request comes just days after Banton, born Mark Myrie, was moved from jail`s general population area on March 18th, to a higher security section as a punishment for giving his food to another inmate, according to the motion.

`The inmate handbook says you are not to be trading food or handing out food,` Pinellas County Sheriff`s Office spokesman Sgt. Tom Nestor, was quoted by the Times as saying. `Food is considered currency.`

But, Markus argues that since the move, the Grammy-nominated reggae singer`s `physical and mental health has been rapidly deteriorating.`

Banton has been charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine. He is accused of participating with two associates in a drug deal in early December to buy cocaine from undercover federal agents in Sarasota.

Deva Bratt is not dead!

At some point last night, March 19 2010, rumors started circulating that Deva Bratt had been shot and killed at his gate. Friends and fans began congregating at his gate crying and pleading for answers, police were even called to the scene. It was total chaos for well over an hour.
The truth of the matter is, while there was an incident close to his home, it did not involve him nor anyone in his home. These rumors are totally false. Deva Bratt is very much alive and has been recording under his Krucial Konflict label. His most recent tracks include "Tribute" on the Triumph Riddim, a dedication to his late Father C and "Figure You Out" on the Candlelight Riddim. Look out for more new music from Deva Bratt as he is in the studio day and night voicing.

Fake Jah Cure Facebook Uncovered!

The recent discovery of a fake Jah Cure Facebook page has forced Jah Cure's management to take a zero tolerance in protecting Jah Cure's intellectual property. The page which was connected to the email 'universaljahcure@live.com ', since been taken down by Facebook, sought to lure unsuspecting fans and promoters with promises of dubs and information on the artiste. The page also offered booking services for the artiste.

This fraud was brought to the attention of Danger Zone Music Group (DZMG) by an unsuspecting promoter from Belize who paid for dubs through this page and when the dubs weren't furnished approached DZMG querying the transaction. It was at this moment that the promoter realized that he had been scammed.

CEO of the Danger Zone Music Group Delmar 'Della Danger' Drummond while upset about the situation believes promoters need to be extra careful when dealing with international transactions with artistes, he stated: "Only DZMG, SoBe Entertainment and Caribbean Entertainment are authorized to handle Jah Cure's bookings. I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to whoever has fallen victim to this scam but we have to be ever vigilant as with the advances in modern technology many nefarious characters are using the web to rob innocent unsuspecting persons".

DZMG has acted with urgency in seeking to curtail the proliferation of fake Jah Cure pages on social networking sites like Facebook. The company will also cooperate with legal authorities in anyway possible to ensure that the intellectual property of Jah Cure is not violated.

DZMG wishes to advise those interested in legally procuring Jah Cure material to contact them at delladanger@gmail.com .

Trini man travels to England and kills girlfriend after seeing her with new lover on Facebook!

A jilted lover who stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death after seeing pictures of her with another man on Facebook was jailed for life yesterday and told that he must spend at least 22 years in prison.

Paul Bristol, 25, was “determined no other man should replace him” and flew 4,000 miles from his home in Trinidad to confront chartered accountant Camilla Mathurasingh at her London home.

Within 24 hours of his arrival in England in April last year, Ms Mathurasingh was dead. Bristol attacked her in her kitchen, stabbing her 20 times as she desperately tried to escape by climbing over her garden fence.

Bristol, who denied murder but admitted manslaughter on the basis of provocation, left her for dead and drove off in her car, crashing into a junction.

When police arrived at the scene he told them: “I’m bad. I have just tried to kill someone. You have to arrest me, here put the handcuffs on me. I stabbed my girlfriend, then I stabbed myself. We had an argument. I’m a bad man, I’m a murderer.”

Judge Timothy Pontius jailed Bristol for life at the Old Bailey and ordered that he serve a minimum of 22 years behind bars before being considered for parole.

He said: “It is absolutely clear you were eaten up by jealousy at the time, having found out about Camille’s relationship with Besim Haxhia.

“You couldn’t bring yourself to accept she was not only living and working thousands of miles away but her life had moved on and the relationship the two of you previously had was at an end.

“You were determined that no other man should replace you in her life, and you decided to bring that young life to an end.

“You attacked her with such repeated savagery and horrifying ferocity that it was your intention to kill her.

“There was simply no provocative conduct by Camille Mathurasingh. Any injury you suffered at her hands only arose as she frantically and desperately fought for her life.”

The judge added: “Camille Mathurasingh was a highly intelligent and ambitious young woman, beautiful and vivacious, caring and loving as a daughter, sister and friend.

“Her death has left a huge and permanent void in the lives of a thoroughly decent family to whom I pay particular tribute for the highly restrained way they have sat quietly through the greater part of the trial.”

Ms Mathurasingh was born in Trinidad but came to live in Britain with her family in 1990, and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2005. She returned to Trinidad for a holiday where she met Bristol and ended up taking a job as an auditor with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

In 2008 she returned to the UK and moved in with her sister in Bromley-by-Bow, East London. She kept in touch with Bristol, who constantly checked her Facebook page to see what she was up to without him.

Who is the Buju Banton informant?????

It has been alleged that the informant in the Buju Banton case has been paid up to 3.3 million USD so far by the government. On Thursday Buju's attorney went to court asking for more information on this informant.

According to the Gleaner:
Buju Banton's lawyer, David Oscar Markus, is claiming the confidential informant, who United States (US) prosecutors are depending on to make their case against his client, for years, has been paid to assist American law-enforcement agencies.

Markus is also claiming the informant has already earned, but has not been paid, for his role in the case against Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie.

The dancehall star's attorney laid the allegations in court yesterday, as he appealed for more information on the informant, whose name was not disclosed.

Markus told US Magistrate Thomas Wilson that based on the information given to him by prosecutors, the informant was being paid on a contingency basis and is to get a portion of any money the court might order Myrie to forfeit.

This will be in addition to what he is allegedly supposed to pocket if the pro-secution proves the case against Banton.

Markus has repeatedly argued that Myrie was set up.

"The lengths the government will go to to create crime when no crime existed is depressing. Do we really want to be paying criminals millions of dollars to ensnare innocent, hard-working men?" Markus told The Gleaner .

Insufficient information

According to Markus, his preparation for Myrie's trial, which is scheduled to begin on April 19, is being hampered because prosecutors have not provided him with sufficient information to cross-examine the informant.

He said he needed details about a tax case involving the informant, information on the other cases on which the informant had worked, and specifics on his criminal history. However, assistant US attorney James Preston argued that he had complied with court requirements and turned over all information that might help the defence.

According to Preston, providing details on every case on which the informant had worked could put the informant in danger.

The judge agreed that Myrie's lawyer was not necessarily entitled to more information but still ordered the prosecution to give the defence all communication by law enforcement or prosecutors asking for beneficial treatment in the informant's tax case and immigration file.

He also ordered the prosecutor to give the defence a list of cases in which the informant had testified for the prosecution.

Myrie has been in custody since last December when he was slapped with drugs and firearm charges.

The reggae icon is accused of conspiracy to possess cocaine and aiding and abetting the possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

His lawyers are arguing that the artiste, who exploded on the international scene with the 1995 album Til Shiloh , was entrapped by the informant.

Jewellery and VVIP Beyonce concert tickets stolen from Brian Lara's home

One million dollars cash and a quantity of VVIP tickets for the Beyonce ‘I Am’ concert were stolen during a heist at the home of West Indies batting legend Brian Lara, on Tuesday.

But police sources said Lara was distraught over the loss of several pieces of jewelry which he received during his record-breaking cricketing career.

Among the items stolen, was the honorary Order of Australia which was bestowed on Lara by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd

That is messed up but from all accounts it looks like an inside job. Lara left his home for about three hours the day it happened (Tuesday) and locked up the place. According to police there was no sign of forced entry. I think what is stinging for him is the memories attached to the awards he lost. I mean Brian Lara can get into any concert in Trinidad he wants to so I'm sure he is not crying over them Beyonce tickets, but to loose an honor that you hold dear, is another story. Hope the police recovers it-- meantime he has pics, and his memory.

According to accounts of the alleged incident, they assaulted Hines and left him to be rushed to hospital.

Hines suffered a few minor lacerations as well as a bruised eye and a possible head trauma.

Sources say Banks was scheduled to perform a few select cuts at Club N.V. on Friday, January 8th.

However, after arriving late to the venue, Banks reportedly performed half a track and walked off the stage to the dismay of the already agitated fans.

When Hines refused to pay Banks for not fulfilling the performance agreement, he was assaulted and left to be rushed to the hospital.

Fan accounts of the lack-luster performance have been removed around the clock from G-Unit's homebase on the web, Thisis50.com
