The casting for the 23rd James Bond film is well under way, and Deadline is now reporting that the latest addition to the line up for the as-yet unnamed film is Javier Bardem.
Bardem, an Oscar-winner for No Country For Old Men, had apparently been offered a "starring role" in the production. And while there are no official details as to what that starring role is, as Deadline rightly points out, "traditionally the bigger male role opposite 007 is the villain".
Given that Bardem has more than earned his on-screen villain stripes in the past, it'd make sense that he'd be the foe in the new film. But it's, of course, unconfirmed.
Bardem has also reportedly been offered the lead role in The Dark Tower trilogy, but it'd presumably be possible to balance both projects.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem Married in Bahamas
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have always kept their romance under the radar – and their intimate wedding was equally low-profile.
Cruz, 36, and Javier Bardem, 41, exchanged vows in front of family members during a small, private ceremony held at a friend’s home in the Bahamas earlier this month.
The bride wore a gown designed by designer John Galliano, a longtime friend of the actress.
The Spanish lovebirds, who are both Oscar winners, started dating in 2007 but have famously kept their relationship out of the public eye. Last year rumors surfaced that the couple had gotten engaged, but they would not comment.
When once asked about Bardem, Cruz refused to confirm whether they were even dating, but couldn't hold back her admiration, saying, "He's a friend and the best actor in the world."
Bardem won an Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as a killer in 2007's No Country for Old Men. Cruz took home an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the 2008 Woody Allen comedy, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which also starred Bardem.

Javier Bardem to Guest Star on Glee
Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is expected to appear this coming season as a rock star who befriends Artie (Kevin McHale).
Bardem pitched the idea to Glee boss Ryan Murphy, with whom he worked with on this summer’s Julia Roberts starrer Eat Pray Love.
“We’re going to rock the house,” enthuses Bardem, who became an unabashed Gleek after watching the entire first season in one week. “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.”
After its first season garnered huge success with high ratings, multiple nominations and award wins, "Glee" has been showered with a list of Hollywood stars offering to be a part of the show.

Penelope Cruz Wedding Set on December
For the longest time, Penelope Cruz has been evading questions regarding her engagement to actor Javier Bardem. Now, it seems that the couple have already decided on their wedding plans this December because Penelope Cruz has been sighted shopping for a wedding gown in the House of Balenciaga. In Touch Weekly initiated the wedding speculation by interviewing a close friend of Penelope who informed that the pair may walk down the aisle "over the holidays." No exact date has been released though.
The source further said that the 35 year old Spanish actress has a very conservative Catholic family and they are the ones pushing for them to get married already: "Javier would like to take things slowly, but Penelope wants to make her parents happy". Since both Penelope and Javier are from Spain, they insisted on having a Spanish designer for them, No exact details for the wedding has been released to the press but we wish the couple all the best for their wedding.
