The iSight isn't up there either. Maybe it's getting axed.

BS. 3G was fully matured at the time of release of the first Iphone. It had been commercially adopted for over 5 years at that point in time.
3G did take more battery life at the time of the release of the original, and the iPhone was enough of a battery hog with its unprecedented screen size and CPU power that it was something of a concern. Still should've had it, but I remember that turning off 3G could significantly extend your battery life on the iPhone 3G.

Most people here are missing the big picture. I'm pretty old and have witnessed the changes in the tech sector. Back in '01 a lot of laptops were made or at least assembled in the USA, and they were quality products, but with cheap foreign labor most global companies could not resist the couple of percent they could add to their profit margins by moving overseas. The company I worked for made laptops for a major name, but they closed the plant here to save between 3.00 and 6.00 dollars per unit, a very small percentage of the overall value. A company like Apple could easily, make and assemble products here, the profit margin on an iPhone is around 60%, but if they did that then there profit margin would only be 50%. In 2000, American EXPORTED more high tech components than it imported. Here is the .gov source (http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c0007.html#2000). We have competed and still can. As the Yuan rises against the dollar because the Chinese government can no longer keep it down the price on all these goods will rise, this is happening right now, the Chinese government can't combat inflation and rising food prices. ....and watching the retail pandaemonium Apple brings with its popular products. Simply amazing.
While admittedly many of its advances are pretty nice, and after playing with one for 15 minutes at MicroCenter, I'm sticking with my generation 1 iPad and waiting until iPad 3 comes out.
I like how the new version is much snappier and how pages in Safari don't have to reload so often (plus no checkerboard). However, for me, I'd have to be pretty impatient to just update for those reasons alone. Every iteration is going to likely improve on these points.
The one thing that really tempts me is form factor. The decrease in width makes a noticeable improvement in handling the device. I didn't think the .2 lbs shaved off would make a difference, but it does. I guess when you're dealing with devices already incredibly light, even a .2 lb difference is notable.
As much as I hate to admit it, the new cover is pretty slick. I look forward to seeing what third parties dream up.
Still, in the end, I'm waiting for iPad 3, which will probably have a higher res screen. Besides a better media experience, it opens doors for app developers due to more real estate. Also, by that time, I will have ditched my Android for an iPhone 5 making the iPad camera and Facetime more useful. 4G may even be an option by then.
For those looking for the iPad 2, good luck. If you have never had an iPad, I think you'll find your efforts worth it. I know people love to throw the term around, but it really is a game changer.

You don't understand how that could come off as racist? The many successful black role models around today simply don't exist in your world view somehow?
I'll agree some of the comment's weren't in the best taste. But take a step back and look at some of the numbers they're really are some worrying disparities between black communities and other communities in the US (and apparently Britain as well).

I'm NOT trying to claim that there aren't successful well educated black people out there. Obviously there are lots of them (including our current president) but your being delusional if you cannot recognize there are some very serious problems in the black community.
One obviously needs to consider factors like poverty, lack of education etc. And even today there are certainly lingering problematic ripples from slavery and segregation.
But there are cultural issues which members of the black community are going to have to confront.
--> Entertainment Role Models - There is a massive shortage of visible role models in the black community. Don't get me wrong I love rap and hip hop but it is abundantly clear that much of this music glorifies woefully poor behavior.

If it's done within the same unit dimensions or slightly (a few millimeters) larger, then yes it is an improved spec.
In a 3.5" screen is somewhat of a drawback for high end devices that are expected to do everything. Power draw on screens and chips is reduced, the technology exists to keep thin form factors and battery life while scaling up to 3.7 and 4" screens. Just swapping between a Nexus One's 3.7" and Nexus S' 4.0" makes a noticeable difference. Scaling 960x640 up to 4" isn't going to ruin the "zomg retina" that every apple fanatic screams about. It'll still put it ahead of all the competition's 800x480 4" screens.
When the interface on a device is handled solely through touch input on the screen itself, 4" screens have a significant advantage over 3.5" screens. After using a Nexus S, Galaxy S, HTC HD2, etc. I think the sweet spot is 4". 4.3" and the unit dimensions start getting too big. But 4" provides just enough extra screen real estate to make typing more comfortable and information display easier to read. Not to mention with Apple pushing gaming on its IOS devices, onscreen joysticks would be made quite a bit easier with a little added space.
And the point is that the current Iphone dimensions don't need to change to accommodate a larger screen. Just lessen the bezel width and you can put a larger screen in the current sized handset without issue. Or scale the dimensions up a few millimeters. Either way it's win-win.

You may have Windows 7 on your desktop but I doubt if you've ever used it properly. Now I've been a Mac user for a long time and I own an iMac and an MBP but let me tell you this, Windows 7 is definitely much better than Vista.
I really don't want to compare Windows to OSX but after using both Vista and 7, I am very confident when I say that Microsoft has really done a good job with Windows 7. Vista was a disaster though....

No more PowerBook. Love the new Mac Mini, I would put in an SSD, but they're still too expensive, and I really don't need one. Its extremely quiet anyway.

Hey everyone, I'd just thought you'd like to know that I'm loaded too. I have 901 shares of Apple....and I would have lost close to $18000 last week when the stock dropped, but fortunately it's only 5% of my portfolio. That and some prescient shorting mitigated my downside risk. So yeah, how about that new MacPro?
