The Born This Way numbers are in, and Lady Gaga has become the fifth female artist to have an album sell over a million copies in one week. Here's how she stacked up:
* Britney Spears, Oops!...I Did It Again (2000, 1.319 million)
* Lady Gaga, Born This Way (2011, 1.108 million)
* Whitney Houston, The Bodyguard (1992, 1.061 million)
* Taylor Swift, Speak Now (2010, 1.047 million)
* Norah Jones, Feels Like Home (2004, 1.022 million)
It's also Gaga's first Top 200 chart-topping album, and, Billboard notes, only the 17th LP in the SoundScan era (i.e. since 1991) to sell a million copies.
So, the question on everyone's minds: how much did the 99-cent deal at Amazon's MP3 store aid the overall sales of Born This Way? Billboard points out that about 440,000 downloads flew through the digital retailer throughout last week. (The album had the under-a-buck deal last Monday and Thursday only.)
Guess doing 148 TV shows in one week really does pay off.

UK Chart Roundup: The Saturdays Sound More Like The Mondays, Lady Gaga Is #1
I'm not quite sure what it is that happened to The Saturdays over time to make them so utterly bland — too many cooks in the kitchen, perhaps, following their initial success with rad debut album Chasing Lights — but whatever it is, it started when the ho brigade released their hodge podge of a second album Wordshaker two years ago. Last year's EP Headlines! was even more abysmal.
So now we have "Notorious," the lead single from the broad squad's upcoming third album. There's been much squawking about the song being so different from anything they've done before, but really it just sounds like it could be any pop tart's latest "boink me on the dancefloor, luv" track.
Sorry, Sats — it's dime a dozen tripe, I'm afraid.
Nevertheless, "Notorious" debuts at #8 on this week's UK chart on the strength of downloads alone (the CD single version doesn't arrive for another month), and becomes their ninth single (out of 10) to land in the Top 10 in their home country. Personally, I just wish they'd return to the fun sound of "If This Is Love" and "Up," rather than marauding through Britney/Rihanna-lite territory.
Over on the UK album chart, Lady Gaga is the one to finally unseat Adele (following the latter's 16-week reign with 21) from the top, as Born This Way posts the biggest first week sales for an LP this year. The Official Charts Company reports that Gaga's third release has sold just over 215,000 copies. (Adele's sophomore album debuted with 208,000.) Here in the States, the album is expected to wind up with over a million copies sold when the Top 200 chart is tallied up this week.
So far, Born This Way has also topped the Australian, Irish and Swedish album charts.
The UK Top 10:
1. "Give Me Everything" - Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, AfroJack & Nayer 2 weeks*
2. "The Lazy Song" - Bruno Mars
3. "I Need A Dollar" - Aloe Blacc
4. "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO
5. "Mr. Saxobeat" - Alexandra Stan
6. "Beautiful People" - Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi
7. "Sweat" - Snoop Dogg
8. "Notorious" - The Saturdays *new*
9. "Judas" - Lady Gaga
10. "Save The World" - Swedish House Mafia

US Chart Roundup: "Hair" Blows
I can't believe Lady Gaga's "Hair" debuted at #12. iTunes countdown/promo single are obnoxious, and that song is taco snatch.

Scotty McCreery Wins 'American Idol', But What The Hell Was Up With TLC?
I haven't mentioned American Idol much around these parts this season because, quite frankly, I've been recapping it for Idolator for the past two years and am pretty American Idoled out when the day is done. But I will say that, like a lot of people, I had this year pegged as being a Scotty McCreery-James Durbin finale.
Lauren Alaina is sweet and obviously talented, and I guess that's what got her to the runner-up position. But the real question is this: is she boinking Scotty on the side? It never crossed my mind until last night's final episode, when McCreery was crowned the winner and he mumbled something about the two of them sticking together. Then she kissed him (on the cheek) a bunch of times. Hmmm.
Anyway, as for all the guest performances, that medley by TLC was kind of a train wreck, no? Why were they lip syncing? T-Boz clearly looked disappointed when it was all over. She also looked out of breath and out of shape, the poor doll. Had no idea about her health issues in the past few years. Very surprised they did the performance.
Oh, well, "No Scrubs" and "Creep" are still my jams.
TLC, "No Scrubs/Waterfalls" on American Idol
Lady Gaga, "The Edge Of Glory" on American Idol
Beyonce's new single "1 + 1" (so boring, it's destined to flop harder than "Run The World (Girls)") on American Idol
Reeve Carney feat. Bono & The Edge, "Rise Above 1" (I like this jam)

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Projected To Sell 750K-To-900K Copies In First Week
Lady Gaga's über-hyped third album Born This Way arrived yesterday (I bought a copy - did you?), and while Billboard has been mum so far on first-week projections for number of copies the LP will sell, Hits Daily Double has coughed up its own guesstimate: 900,000.
If that number proves to be true, that'll be quite impressive. (Keep in mind Adele's 21, which, by comparison, has sold "only" about 1.7 million copies, despite being #1 for eight weeks.). And several factors go into that high number: Walmart violating yesterday's street date and putting the album on sale over the weekend, ridiculously low first-day sale price of 99¢ at the Amazon MP3 store, Gaga's relentless promo grind, etc.
The last album to sell such an enormous number of copies in its first week on sale was Taylor Swift's Speak Now, which debuted at #1 last November on the strength of 1,047,000 copies moved. Prior to that, Eminem's Recovery shifted 741,000 out of the gate last June.
However many copies Born This Way winds selling, there's no doubt it'll be Lady Gaga's long overdue first #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Unless like, you know, the general public gets the sudden urge to ram the Hangover II soundtrack up their candy box.

I Coughed Up Cash For 'Born This Way' Today
I'll be the first to voice up if Lady Gaga ever turns the corner and makes a shit album. But, sorry, haters — Born This Way isn't it. I'm not saying it's the silk-lined vagina of rock and roll. Just that, upon several listens, it's a pretty solid album.
I plunked down 15 bucks this afternoon at Starbucks for the "special edition." I know the regular version was going for 99 cents at the Amazon MP3 store (today only).
Did you buy a copy?

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake & Andy Samberg Have A "3-Way" On 'SNL'
Lady Gaga served up both a medley of "The Edge Of Glory" and "Judas," and then an over-the-top, yack-inducing performance of "Born This Way" (where, at the end, she shoots goo out of her pregnant Monster taco) on Saturday Night Live last night...
...but who cares about those tired jingles when the more entertaining skit came in the form of Andy Samberg and host Justin Timberlake reprising their cheesy '90s blue-eyed R&B "Dick In A Box" act for a new song, "3-Way (The Golden Rule)," wherein they hooked up with Gaga, and then each other.
Kinda lame. But worth a laugh or two.

U.S. Chart Roundup: Lady Gaga Redeems Herself After "Judas" With "The Edge Of Glory"
It's a second week for Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and an eighth week at #1 for her sophomore album 21 on the Top 200 chart. Not only is 21 the only album to cross the million mark as far as copies of an LP sold this year, it's also getting closer to 2 million (right now it stands at 1.7 million since its late February release).
Elsewhere, Lady Gaga's "Judas" looks to be officially dead in the water. The song drops from #19 to #27 on this week's chart, while previous single "Born This Way" slides still hangs in the Top 20 at #19. Of course, the good news is that "The Edge Of Glory" debuts at #3 and becomes her eighth single to crack the Top 5. Only "Paparazzi" (#6) and "Judas" (#10) charted lower.
And let's face it — while I liked "Judas" at first, it's kind of a dud when compared to some of the hotter tracks from Born This Way (like "Marry The Night" and "Electric Chapel"). That broad needs to step away from the bong and start making better single choices.
Enrique Iglesias' new single "Dirty Dancer" debuts one notch above "Born This Way," at #18 (credit his performance on last week's American Idol results show).
Meanwhile, the True Talent From Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland cracks the Top 30 with her Lil Wayne-assisted single "Motivation." It's at #26, while Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" continues its disastrous plummet, this week from #65 to #76.
Jordin Sparks also performed on Idol last week, and her new single "I Am Woman" debuts at #82. Enjoy it, darlin', because it's pretty much off to the stripper pole in Victorville once you're dropped from the label by Christmas.
The U.S. Top 10:
1. "Rolling In The Deep" - Adele *2 weeks*
2. "E.T." - Katy Perry feat. Kanye West

UK Chart Roundup: I'll Be Back Soon
Just a quick note to apologize for having been a bit absent this past week. There's a personal issue I've deal with, and so blogging hasn't been at the top of the priority list. That said, I still have no idea what happened to Thursday's U.S. chart post. It was there, there were even comments on it and then it was gone. Oh well. Things will return to normal here on Tuesday.
But really quickly, not the most exciting Top 10 ever, is it? Congrats to Lady Gaga, at least, for landing "The Edge Of Glory" at #6 in the UK, since "Judas" kind of tanked at #9 and dropped quickly. It will be interesting to see if this week's promo single "Hair" does as well...or sounds as good.
And while I'm a little disappointed Take That's "Love Love" only managed a #15 debut, it's still miles ahead of their previous singles "Happy Now" and "Kidz," which charted at #52 and #28, respectively.
Over on the album chart it's a 15th non-consecutive week for Adele's 21 at the top.
Okay, back as normal tomorrow. Promise!
The UK Top 10:
1. "The Lazy Song" - Bruno Mars *1 week*
2. "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO
3. "Where Dem Girls At" - David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida
4. "Give Me Everything" - Pitbull feat. Ne-Yo, AfroJack & Nayer
5. "Beautiful People" - Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi
6. "The Edge Of Glory" - Lady Gaga *new*
7. "On The Floor" - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull
8. "Sweat" - Snoop Dogg
9. "I Need A Dollar" - Aloe Blacc
10. "Nobody's Perfect" - Jessie J

U.S. Chart Roundup: Adele Is #1, And Kelly Rowland Has A Bigger Hit Than Beyonce
All seems right in the world now that Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" has finally topped the Billboard Hot 100. I'm not saying I'm a massive Adele stan or that I don't have my moments where I'm completely sick of hearing "Rolling In The Deep." But it just feels like a song that should be a #1 hit. And given that it was released back in December, it sure took its time getting there.
Believe it or not, "Rolling In The Deep" actually only peaked at #2 in the UK, despite the fact that the song's parent album 21 has been #1 for 14 of its 15 weeks on the chart in Adele's home country. Here in the U.S., 21 is the top album for a seventh non-consecutive week.
Further down, Lady Antebellum's "Just A Kiss" debuts at #7. I have a total weak spot for Lady A these days, I'm afraid. I think I played their new single about 15 times in a row the day it came out. Call me a sucker for a good old-fashioned, well-structured ballad.
Outside of the Top 10, David Guetta, Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj's "Where Dem Girls At" debuts at #14 while Lady Gaga's "Judas" rebounds (thanks to the video's premiere) and moves up one position to #19. She's set to perform that hot trash on American Idol tonight.
Meanwhile, Kelly Rowland's "Motivation" climbs up to #31, i.e. two notches higher on the chart than Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" made it to. Once again, Kelendria proves who the REAL talent in Destiny's Child was.
In it's third week on the Hot 100, Beyonce's MEGA-FLOP single is down to #65.

Lady Gaga's "Edge Of Glory": Better Than "Judas" + "Born This Way" Combined
Suddenly, despite the wobbly chart performance of "Judas," all is forgiven, Lady Gaga! The sax solo is sexy.
Thursday, May 5, 2011
It's Lady Gaga's "Judas" Video (The Short Version)
Lady Gaga's new single "Judas" may be tumbling down the chart after an initial Top 10 debut three weeks ago, but the video has finally appeared. Well, let's say it leaked ahead of its scheduled premiere tonight on American Idol. (A lengthier, seven-minute version is set to debut on E! News this evening, as well.)
I kept reading that actor Norman Reedus plays Judas in the biker/biblical video, but I had no idea he was the dude who plays the hot baddie bastard on my new favorite show The Walking Dead. I'm totally stanning for him from here on out.
Watch him get all bi-sexy with Mary Magdalene and Jesus in "Judas" before the vid gets yanked!

U.S. Chart Roundup: Britney And Kelly Rowland Soar While Beyonce Flops Hard
Exactly two months after the single first arrived, Britney Spears' "Till The World Ends" gets a major push up the Billboard Hot 100 (to #3) thanks to the new remix featuring Wigney's upcoming tourmate Nicki Minaj and the song's co-writer Ke$ha. The last Britney single to peak at #3 on the chart was "Circus." This now gives her three Top 5 hits in a row, following "Hold It Against Me" and "3."
Don't expect The Wig's latest to stick around too long, though — the novelty of the remix appears to have been fleeting, as it's already dropped to #20 on iTunes. The original version of "Till The World Ends" is at #36 on the digital store's chart.
Likewise, it's odd that Billboard even credits Britney this week on Rihanna's "S&M" (#6), since that remix has plummeted to #152 on iTunes. (RiRi's Loud version is hanging in there at #18).
But let's focus on the two high profile singles that have dropped faster than an 17-year-old hooker's panties at R. Kelly's mansion: Lady Gaga's "Judas" and Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)." Gaga's latest has steadily tumbled, from #10 to #12 to, now, #20. At least she has this week's appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and the premiere of the music video tonight to rely on (not to mention upcoming performances on the American Idol and Saturday Night Live finales).
Meanwhile, House Of Dereon's Main Wig has yet to premiere her video for "Run The World." But let's face it — that song sucks dry weave dust, hence its plunge from #33 to #48.
On the flip side, Kelly Rowland, the TRUE talent from Destiny's Child, climbs 11 positions to #43 with "Motivation." Finally, a little justice comes along to put Beyonce in her place.
The U.S. Top 10:
1. "E.T." - Katy Perry feat. Kanye West *5 weeks*

It's Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Tracklist
You've already seen the cover of Lady Gaga's upcoming album Born This Way. Now here's the tracklist —first the regular version (above) and the expanded edition (below).
I don't know why I'd ever want to listen to any of those remixes on the second disc of the expanded version. So eff that.

UK Chart Roundup: Why Haven't Lady Gaga And Beyonce Scissored Yet?
Lady Gaga had better get crackin' with that "Judas" video, since the single plunged from #9 to #23 on the UK chart like a stripper in an upside-down split who just eyed a roll of nickels at the bottom of the pole.
Annoyingly, House Of Dereon's Main Wig Beyonce managed to find enough tone deaf fans to purchase her single massive fail single "Run The World (Girls)" to send it up from #18 to #11. One of those things I'll just never understand, I guess.
Adele's 21 is the top album for a 13th non-consecutive week.
The UK Top 10:
1. "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO *3 weeks*
2. "The Lazy Song" - Bruno Mars
3. "On The Floor" - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull
4. "Beautiful People" - Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi
5. "Sweat" - Snoop Dogg

7. "Unorthadox" - Wretch 32 feat. Example
8. "Guilt" - Nero *new*
9. "Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman
10. "Buzzin'" - Mann feat. 50 Cent

U.S. Chart Roundup: Beyonce's "Girls" Runs Off Track And Head-On Into A Wall
Following the pattern of her previous single "Firework," Katy Perry's "E.T." returns to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth non-consecutive week after a brief chart-topping interruption last week by Rihanna and Britney Spears' remix of "S&M."
Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" was performed by American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart last week to rather positive effect; the hopeful crooner managed to survive another week on the show, and Adele's single climbs to a new high of #2, matching its UK peak position. Likewise, Adele's 21 ballad "Turning Tables" debuts at #63 after a performance of it by Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee.
Two other artists from across the pond make slight advances this week on the Hot 100: Tinie Tempah is up one position to #13 with "Written In The Stars" while Jessie J's "Price Tag" also climbs one to #23.
This brings us to Beyonce's depressing (by her standards) debut at #33 with "Run The World (Girls)." The single went on sale at iTunes late last week and sold 77,000 downloads by Sunday evening. By comparison, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" sold 448,000 downloads between its Friday release day and the following Sunday in February, and it debuted at #1.
Granted, Lady Gaga is the hot new pop broad on the block. But by that token, Britney Spears moved 411,000 copies of "Hold It Against Me" in its first week of release in January. That single also debuted at #1.
Two weeks ago Gaga's second Born This Way single "Judas" entered the chart at #10 after initially selling 162,000 in only two-and-a-half days.
I guess what I'm saying is this: Beyonce, girl, time to get a new weave.
On a related note, Kelly Rowland's Jim Jonsin-produced "Motivation" moves up one to #54, proving that the Real Talent From Destiny's Child is back to reclaim her wig.
The U.S. Top 10:

U.S. Chart Roundup: Rihanna & Britney Spears Are #1, Kelly Rowland Shows Beyonce How It's Done
Rihanna and Britney Spears scissor their way to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the remix of Ri Ri's "S&M" that The Chanting Wig's angelic voice appears on. This gives Ri her 10th chart-topping single in the U.S., and Weaveney her fifth.
Billboard points out that Rihanna achieves the shortest span between a solo artist's first and 10th #1 singles in Hot 100 history—a stretch of four years, 11 months and two weeks that began with "SOS". Meanwhile, The Chanting Wig's "Till The World Ends" slips from its peak position of #8 to #9.
And then there's Lady Gaga's "Judas," which leaked on Friday (four days ahead of its scheduled release) and debuts at #10 on the strength of 162,000 downloads sold by Sunday. This marks that broad's ninth Top 10 single. It's a shame "Judas" seems like less of an event, because I actually think that once the dust settles on this era for Gaga, it will be regarded as a better song than "Born This Way."
Elsewhere, Jessie J's mediocre Dr. Luke trash "Price Tag" scrapes its way to #24, while her debut LP Who You Are enters the Top 200 album chart at #11. And then there's The Script, whose single "For The First Time" is so boring I'd completely forgotten it existed. But, no—there it is this week at #36.
Destiny's Child's real success story, Kelly Rowland, sees her latest jam "Motivation" debut at #55. This marks her highest placement on the Hot 100 since "Like This" reached the stunning heights of #30 four years ago.
House Of Dereon's Lucky Hack Beyonce should sit her tired wig down and be studying Ms. Kelendria's every move!

"Weird Al" Yankovic Goofs On Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"
Lady Gaga is on the cover of the new issue of NME, where she's cupping one of her jugs and unzipping her kid spitter. Class. She also says hotness like this in the accompanying interview:
Don't be offended when you see
My latest pop monstrosity
I'm strange, weird, odd, shocking and bizarre
I'm Frankenstein, I'm Avatar
"Weird Al" apparently has a bee in his panties over some drama about LG not letting him release "Perform This Way," and he wrote a whole blog post about it called "The Gaga Saga."' Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Gaga hasn't even heard "Perform This Way" yet, and therefore hasn't rejected the song being released.
Jesus, some people have real fucking problems.
“Let me tell you something. If you fucking rip my hairbow and my wig off my fucking head, my shoes, my bra, every single thing on my body, and you throw me on a piano with a microphone, I will fucking make you cry."She said "wig." Gaga has also found her #1 hit "Born This Way" parodied by music goofball "Weird Al" Yankcovic. To be honest, his version is one of his weaker attempts, though I do like this part:

UK Chart Roundup: "Judas" Is Lady Gaga's Virtue
Following the rush release of Lady Gaga's "Judas" to iTunes on Friday, the song has crashed the UK chart at #14 today. Curiously, while the Catholic church-condemned dance jam has been dominating the U.S. iTunes store, it's only at #4 in the UK, the country the previously found Gaga topping the main singles chart four times. Even "Born This Way," which pretty much hit #1 around the globe, only managed to peak at #3 there. Are the Brits losing interest in the Lady already?
The top download on UK iTunes—and the new #1 single on the UK chart—is "Party Rock Anthem," from Gaga's low-brow Cherrytree/Interscope labelmates LMFAO.
Of course, "Party Rock Anthem" is kind of a jam. If anything, its interesting to just sit back for a minute and process just how swiftly popular music has shifted from R&B to dance-pop in sound over the past three years. (Granted, "Party Rock Anthem" has yet to even dent the Billboard Hot 100.)
Over on the UK album chart, Adele's 11-week reign at the top with 21 is finally ended by Foo Fighters' Wasting Light.
