DeGeneres has announced that she is leaving the hit show after only one season, conceding: “My work schedule became more than I bargained for.”
Lopez’s manager Benny Medina is said to have sat down with television producers a month ago for negotiations, and allegedly they sealed the deal earlier this week, Deadline reports.
The daytime talk-show host’s resignation follows ongoing speculation surrounding who will take Simon Cowell’s place when he leaves the talent program. In January Cowell announced that this would be his last season on ‘Idol’ and he is planning on focusing his attention on bringing his British talent show The ‘X Factor’ to the Us.
Justin Timberlake and Elton John’s names have in recent days been added to the list of potential candidates to step into Cowell’s shoes.
