Mark Ruffalo has been offered the role of the Hulk in Marvel's superhero team-up film The Avengers.
Strictly speaking, of course, he would play the green giant's human alter-ego Bruce Banner because the Hulk is all CGI.
According to Deadline, Ruffalo is in "late-stage discussions" for the role while HeatVision's sources say it's not yet that far down the road: an offer has been made and the actor will meet director Joss Whedon this weekend for talks before making any decision.
Ruffalo, 42, was in Zodiac, Where the Wild Things Are and this year's Shutter Island. He stars in highly-praised new comedy drama The Kids Are All Right which opened in the USA last weekend.
