The set of x-rays, taken in 1954 hospital visit by the actress, was one of several Hollywood memorabilia sold at the Hollywood Legends auction held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada. The auctioneer, Julien’s Auctions, had estimated the x-rays to sell for about $3,000.
A chair used by the bombshell in her last photo shoot was also bought for $35,000 during the auction. Monroe memorabilia has been hot commodity among Hollywood collectors, with any thing from dress to pictures, among other things, being marketed as collectors’ item.
Monroe, born Norma Jane Mortenson, died at the very young age of 36 from what is officially classified as a “probable suicide” by barbiturates overdose.
